"Hot Flash!"

An original design to portray waves of heat, this quilt was constructed by machine appliqué with commercial batik fabrics. It is free motion machine quilted with a variety of rayon, cotton and metallic threads. "Waterplay" was the first piece using this design, but this time I used a mirror image of the drawing and turned the design horizontally, so instead of layers of water, you see vertical shapes of flames.

This piece was  juried into the "RED" exhibit at the Greenwood Gallery, Guelph, ON. Feb. 2005.
