This creation was inspired by the theme for the Grand
National (annual Fibre Art show held at the Kitchener/Waterloo Art Gallery
each spring) of "Fantasy". This brought to mind the idea of a
genie rising up out of a bottle to grant three wishes.
The bottle, made from scratch, has weight pellets, a
dowel running up thru the base, aluminum foil and lots of tape to create
the shapes, then quilted satins were applied to the structure. Further
embellishments with beads and decorative yarns added the finishing
touches. The sculptured beaded medallion was learned in a workshop
by Linda Rawson Stewart. (See her art here: http://www.fibreartstudios.com)
The Genie was created from an original pattern, and I used
sheers, quilted satins, beads, jewelry pieces, chains and decorative
yarns.
Height is about 39 inches.
