2008 brought a desire to refine my doll designs with more accurate body proportions, varied arm and leg patterns, and facial fabric overlays to hide sculpting stitches and seams.
|
I took my first online doll class with Natalie Hammade at Doll Street Dreamers. She taught us about face overlays and optional steps to painting and drawing features. (See the Marottes below)
All of my creations this year have this overlay on the faces.

Other online classes included making fairy wings out of all sorts of materials and discovering silk fusion techniques, but I wouldn't really get into these experiments until 2009.
Joggles.com offers several classes on all kinds of fibre art. You can visit their website by clicking here. |
Later in the year, Charie Wilson came to the Doll Club and taught a class on the ball-jointed doll. This included more face sculpting techniques and several time-saving tips. (See Frederick below) I later developed this design idea into a series. (See Doll Gallery III)
