After my first few dolls, I encountered several technical challenges as my ideas became more ambitious and complex. Marianne Reitsma's doll club in Ajax, Ontario provided opportunities for learning new techniques, creative challenges and a chance to meet other doll artists.

Adele Sciortino visited the doll club in 2007 with a class on Creative Costuming. We learned about ways to "dress" a doll and how to make several design choices, along with a few embellishment and surface techniques. The doll from this class is "Addy", below in row 4.

This process is very time consuming since 95% of the work is done by hand, but I found myself completely immersed in learning how to make my visions come to life in soft sculptures.  

 Now I can't imagine not having a doll in-progress. I hope you enjoy viewing my forays into figurative soft sculpture. Check back often, as these galleries will continue to expand!
