The Pixie Chicks
4 ft. Square platform or table Installation
Most elves originated in Germany. As wardens of nature, they’ve seen the dawn of time, the birth of man and the changing of countless seasons. They revere this history in poetry and songs. Their songs also lighten the hearts of many in grief.
Emilee plays the fiddle, Nataly plays the Guitar and Martee plays the Mandolin.
Each doll, if standing, would be about 4 ft. high, but these are seated on fabric-covered and embellished boxes to play their instruments. Face overlays hide the sculpting stitches and seams, with the use of textile paints, ink, pastels and coloured pencils.
Their hands and fingers are wired for various poses with their instruments and the arms are movable on Nataly and Martee. Emilee's left arm has a horizontal wooden dowel inner armature to keep the arm suspended to hold the bow for the violin.
The instruments are also hand made from balsa wood, styrofoam, decoupaged fabric, leather trim, yarn, toothpicks, buttons, nails, and fabric paints. The violin has a fabric head at the top of the neck, sculpted and painted to look like an elf.
Doll materials include pearl embellished lace, hand-painted lace, organza, sequins, ribbons, polyfil, silk flower pieces, synthetic sheers, satins, suede and other fine fabrics. The bodies are made of quality cotton batiks and they have wool and/or acryic yarns for hair. Assorted trims complete the look, including an acorn and silk leaf garter for Emilee.
Original one-time patterns; countoured bodies. Upholstered and embellished boxes are included with each doll.
