Moonlit Sails

A tall sailing vessel moves across rolling dark waters with a full moon as a guiding light. Over 150 pieces of fabric have been used to illustrate the waves, with additional hand-painting for highlights.

Free-motion machine quilted with cotton and polyester threads. The quilting lines in the sails had to be hand drawn into place before quilting for maximum accuracy, along with other details.

Machine Appliqué, hand painting and Free Motion Machine Quilted.
