This
piece was created for the Silent Auction , Spring 2006 Oshawa Fibre Art Show. 100% of the Auction
proceeds went to the Durham Region Easter Seals Foundation. They
requested a "Egg"
theme for our artwork, to tie in with their Paper Egg drive. 14 out of
the 18 participating artists contributed original Fibre Art creations
for the Auction, and we raised $1,500.00 for the Charity. Gracie's
Recipe was based on a photo of my own hand holding three eggs. (See picture
below). The title came from finding "egg quotes" on the
internet: Gracie
Allen was complaining to George Burns about a recipe she was reading: "It
says here, separate the eggs, but it doesn't say how far!" Machine
Appliqué, Machine Quilted, with each egg painted separately before
piecing, then stuffed with more batting from the back of the piece.
