Welcome to Blue Moon Fabric Arts!

My name is Martha Brown. I received a degree in Art from East Tenn. State University, had a 12 year career as a dental lab technician, then had my own business as a picture framer before I became a fibre artist.

A neighbor loaned me a quilting book in 1994, and it wasn’t long before I preferred sitting at my sewing machine and creating rather than framing other artists’ works.

I started piecing and quilting traditional designs often inspired by the fabrics I found. For the first few years I quilted everything by hand. Many friends and family members received my quilts as gifts. Seven years later, I had taken several classes and was making quilts for sale. I also learned a few liberating techniques that would allow my drawings to become art quilts. I now enjoy creating my own designs and machine quilting them.

I moved to Canada in 1998, and married a wonderful Canadian the following year.

I create original designs, fabric paintings and anything that is a creative challenge for me.

The galleries, navigated by the buttons above, also show works that have sold to provide ideas for commission orders. My new passion is figurative soft sculptures. See the Art Doll Gallery link above!
